Getting genetic
syntax right.

With precise use of genetic grammar in transgenic design, ExpressionEdits unlocks the capacity to make proteins previously beyond reach.

It’s time to modernize the genetic toolbox.

Many proteins are hard to produce and scale up using conventional methods, often leading to insufficient yields for therapeutic applications both in vivo and in vitro.

So far scientists have been able to identify proteins that are needed, but haven’t been able to express enough of them. Our current toolbox? Using decades old methods like codon optimization and strong viral promoters.

our story

How it started.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, I needed to figure out how to express spike protein for our screens. Looking at how others were designing the S-protein, I couldn’t quite understand why we were making the designs the way we were.

This was an RNA virus, evolutionarily foreign to the nucleus, so its S-encoding sequence didn’t look like a human gene — and yet the other designs were not aiming to solve that problem.

An obvious difference being that natural genes have introns.”

introns

Small tweaks, major leaps.

Introns, once considered "junk DNA" are now recognized as pivotal regulators of gene expression. Through intronization, we can enhance gene expression without compromising the original design.

The median intron is over 1500 base pairs, and is often deprioritized for its size by protein producers. However, our introns can be as small as 80 base pairs, allowing us to integrate them into constructs without exceeding size constraints.

Ultimately, a gene is a sentence, and introns are the spaces between words. Without them a sentence is gibberish...youseehowweirditlookswhenyoudontuseintrons?

platform

Splice and dice with the genetic Syntax Engine.

If introns are the spacing between words, then the Genetic Syntax Engine is the ultimate editor — a computational platform that perfects genetic grammar. With advanced AI and deep biological insights, it can predict performance and redesign transgenes to unlock protein expression across therapeutic modalities.

In transgenic design, crafting a coherent sentence isn’t just about assembling words; it’s about context–creating a message that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Internal pipeline

Inventing the imaginable — pioneering high-value protein therapeutics.

Inventing the imaginable pioneering high-value protein therapeutics.

We are building biology with nature’s mechanisms in mind to advance an internal pipeline of imaginable and medically urgent therapeutic proteins. We know what’s needed for patients, we’ve just been unable to produce them till now.

Using the Genetic Syntax Engine to adapt and enhance existing designs, we aim to overcome production challenges, enabling the creation of promising therapeutics so far considered infeasible.
